Title: Watercolor Studio

Description: 
If you have some watercolor experience and would like to pursue your own projects with help from an experienced instructor, this is the class for you.  You will start by defining your own goals for the class and establishing a plan, with help from Peg.  She will refer you to other painters’ works, suggest techniques to practice at home, and offer one-on-one assistance.  An emphasis will be placed on strong value sketches and color palettes as a basis for your paintings.  Weekly demonstrations will be offered, based on the needs of the class. Sign up now, and watch as your understanding of the painting process, and your finished paintings, quickly improve over these six weeks!  A materials list will be provided upon registration.

Title: Color Course for Watercolorists
Dates: Tuesday evenings, 6-8 pm
     January 21 - February 25, 2020

Level: Basic skills to advanced
Description: Instructor: Peg Sheridan

Are you confused about color terms, like “granulation”, “opacity”, “lightfastedness”, “complementary colors”, “cool vs. warm”, “tint”, “staining vs. nonstaining color”, “primary, secondary and tertiary colors”?  Do you struggle to mix colors that are beautiful, not muddy?  Do you know how to plan a painting with a value study and color palette?  Do you wish you knew how to mix the color you want?  Would you like to learn how to make beautiful green, neutral or dark colors? Join Peg as she breaks down the complexity of color into short, easy-to-follow exercises.  Discover the hundreds of colors you can mix with the tubes of paint you already own!  This class will include: demonstrations, color worksheets, and individual help in planning colors for your own paintings.  You will get a college-level class on color, condensed into 6 weeks.  This class will help you to improve all of your paintings. A supply list will be available.

Title:  Winter in the Mountains
Date: Saturday, January 18, 2020
Time: 10 am to 3 pm
Skill Level: Beginner to advanced

Description:  

Enjoy a relaxing day learning about watercolor painting.  You don’t have to bring anything, and you do not need experience in watercolor painting. The instructor will provide quality paints, watercolor paper, brushes, a full color lesson, a mat, coffee and tea, and everything else you need to complete two watercolor paintings!  
 
We will start by practicing techniques used to paint winter scenes, and then move on to learning how to draw a winter scene, plan a color palette and use photographs to design a good painting.  Peg will lead you through painting a typical winter scene in our area.  She will show you ways to save whites, add beautiful shadows in the snow, and add finishing details.  In the process, you will gain valuable watercolor painting skills. Please bring your favorite winter photographs and a lunch.  Wear old clothes or bring an apron.

Title: Capturing Winter Beauty in Watercolor
Date: Saturday, January 25, 2020 (Snow date Feb. 29)
Time: 10 am to 3 pm
Skill Level: Beginner to advanced

Description:  

Join us for a fun day of painting simple winter scenes in watercolor.  Discover how to paint soft shadows n snow, falling snow, and wintery sunsets. Along the way, you will learn essential skills in watercolor.  Peg will offer demonstrations, step-by-step color worksheets, and individual help.  Most students will complete two small paintings in this workshop.  You will be amazed at what you learn in one day!  A materials list will be provided, or you can order a watercolor kit from Peg for $55.

Title:  Painting People in Watercolor Scenes
Date: Saturday, February 8, 2020
Time: 10 am to 3 pm
Skill Level: Beginner to advanced

Description:  

Enjoy a relaxing day learning about watercolor painting.  You don’t have to bring anything, and you do not need experience in watercolor painting. The instructor will provide quality paints, watercolor paper, brushes, a full color lesson, a mat, coffee and tea, and everything else you need to complete two watercolor paintings!  
 
People add scale, action, and interest to a scene. However, it can be challenging to paint them loosely but in proportion.  Peg will lead you through exercises in painting people and crowds in a a loose, convincing way.  Please bring photos of figures in motion, crowds, etc., and a lunch.  Please wear old clothes, or bring an apron.
