Painting Watercolor Florals in a Loose, Expressive Way: Saturday workshop
Let's celebrate spring by painting flowers in a more creative way, responding to the beauty rather than trying to replicate it. Peg will show you some tips for painting flowers that are transparent, lively, and colorful. She will show you ways to use your brushes in an expressive way, add texture with other materials and develop appealing compositions. Peg will lead you through two paintings, with a step-by-step demonstrations. She will also provide color worksheets and individual help. You will go home with two watercolors (you may have to put the finishing touches on at home). Learn why Peg is the most popular watercolor instructor in the region, and many of her classes sell out. Learning from the Watercolor Masters, The Impressionists: 6 week class
We can learn a lot by studying the works of the masters. In this class, we will focus on the Impressionist painters in watercolor. We will study how they looked at their subjects, how they captured the light, how they used brushstrokes to give the impression of a subject. We will look at the materials and techniques they used to achieve each of their unique styles. Then we will use what we learned to apply it to our own paintings, giving them a new freshness.
We will investigate the works of ground-breaking impressionists, including John Singer Sargent, Henri Matisse, and J.M.W. Turner. We will also look at the more modern impressionistic works of Edward Seago and Edward Wesson. You will also research and paint like the impressionist painter of your choice.
You will be encouraged to follow your own interests. Throughout the six weeks, planning and composition will be emphasized. Peg will provide demonstrations, color worksheets, one on one help, and weekly reviews of student paintings.
