Plein Air Watercolors at Fort Lewis Lodge
Join Peg for a painting getaway in the mountains of western Virginia. With 3,300 acres of land along the gorgeous Cowpasture River, there is plenty to paint. Peg will offer on site demonstrations, color worksheets, one on one help, and critiques. Along with painting, participants will have opportunities to hike, bike, fish, kayak, swim, tube, sit around the outdoor fireplace, or take a wood-fired sauna. Your stay includes a large breakfast and dinner. There are a few different options for rooms, including single and double rooms in the lodge, silo and Riverside House, and also cabins.

Discover the joy of painting outside, and visit some of the prettiest places in our area! You will be amazed at how painting en plein air will increase your skill. We will learn tools for distilling a complicated scene into connected shapes and values. Peg will share various methods and tools for plein air painting, and will do demonstrations on site. You will choose what you paint. Soon all of your paintings, en plein air or in the studio, will improve. Your observation and recording skills will improve significantly. Subject matter will vary. We will meet outside at a predetermined location each week, unless the weather is bad (when we will reschedule the class or meet in the studio.). The instructor will offer demonstrations, critiques and individual help. A materials list will be provided.

Ten Minute Landscapes (A Saturday Workshop)
Do you want to learn to paint looser, and more decisively? Do you tend to overwork your paintings? Would you like to learn how to distill a scene down to a few simple shapes? Join us to learn all of these things, and more. We will start with some ideas on simple compositions. We will practice expressive brush strokes with large brushes. Then, we will create several small, beautiful paintings. You choose whether you do landscapes, abstracts, portraits, or any subject matter. By the end of this workshop, you will have gained skills and confidence. You will also have fun! Peg will offer demonstrations, critiques and individual help. A materials list will be provided.
