Join us for a fun day of painting at the Farmers Market! You may be inspired by the colors, smells, people, animals, produce, etc. Peg will show you how to do quick sketches to capture the subject that interests you, and how to show all of that life and action in your paintings! Peg will offer demonstrations, one-on-one help, and color worksheets to help you.

Materials List (call me if you have questions):
A small to medium sized palette: make sure you have a space for mixing color on the palette.
Watercolor Paints: Tube or pan watercolors, or whatever you prefer for sketching.
Viewfinder: You can buy one online, or make your own by cutting a rectangle out of a piece of stiff paper. We will use these to look through to compose a sketch.
Brushes: a small and medium round brush (preferably synthetic), a 1 inch flat brush, and a rigger/script/liner brush. A scrubber is also very handy (it removes mistakes).
A pencil, eraser, and something to take notes on (or a sketchbook)
Paper towels or rags
A large water container with a lid (a peanut butter or mayo jar, for example)
A sketchbook, loose (Arches 140 lb) watercolor paper, or other surface. :I recommend one of the following: 1) Make your own sketchbook by cutting Arches watercolor paper and 2 pieces of mat board to the same size, and taking it to Staples to bind (with a spiral wire) for about $5, or 2) A Moleskine watercolor sketchbook (5X8 or 8.5X11.5), or 3) A Canson Mixed Media sketchbook (8.5X5.5). I do not recommend Strathmore or Cotman paper. If you are working on loose paper, bring a small board that is about the same size, and tape the watercolor paper to it. .
A chair or easel. A beach chair works well. A small collapsible table is useful, also. I can send you info on buying one; just ask.
Sunscreen, a hat, a water bottle and bug spray
Optional: A Micron permanent ink pen, size 3 or 5, in black or sepia.
Note: Don't overpack. Try to fit your materials into a bag or backpack that is easy to carry. If you have any questions on materials, email me.
