Materials List:
Please bring your regular watercolor supplies, including:

Paper (Arches 140 lb. cold press paper, 1/2 sheet ripped or cut into eighths, plus several small pieces of scrap Arches, like the backs of old paintings).

Brushes: Rounds and flats, from small to large

Paints: Most students have plenty of colors of paint.  I recommend a warm and cool each of red, yellow, and blue.  In other words, colors such as: cadmium red and alizarin crimson, gamboge and areolin yellow, cobalt and prussian blue, etc. If you own a tube of Paynes Gray or Indigo, bring that.  If you have Naples Yellow, please bring it; it is good for mixing flesh colors. If you lack a color or two, I will be happy to share some with you.  I

Palette: A covered palette, butcher tray, or white plate, etc.

Note: If you are a beginner and lack supplies, you can buy a kit from me for $50.  The kit includes: 5 tubes of watercolor paint, 3 brushes, a pencil, a small palette, and enough Arches 140 lb. cold press paper for the class.  You must contact me 2 weeks before the class, if you want to order a kit.

A Board: A bit larger than your paper. It can be foam core, plexiglass, masonite, etc.

Water container: large yogurt or mayonnaise jar, etc.; nothing too small

Sketchbook, drawing pencil, paper towels, and anything else you need.  Optional: a scrubber.

References: Photos, sketches, etc. of landscapes or cities with crowds, couples, individuals, dog walkers, etc.   Choose ideas that you enjoy observing and painting, or those that evoke special memories.  Try to find images with strong lights and darks, and interesting shapes.
